Then, answer the following questions:
1. Explain why Jobs calls dropping out, "one of the best decisions I ever made"? (His first story)
2. Explain why Jobs calls being fired from Apple "one of the best things that ever happened" to him.(His second story)
3. How has Jobs used his inevitable death as his daily motivation? Explain.
By the way, at the end, when he claims he's "fine now," he's lying. I'm sure this fact influenced his ruminations on death.
1. Steve Jobs describes dropping out as the one of the best decisions he'd ever made because he knew that if he would have remained in college, he would not have accomplished the things that he did in his lifetime. When he dropped out, it led him in a new direction. This new direction ending up leading him to running the very successful company that Apple was. He may not have been too sure of himself when he first made the decision, but he was glad that it paid off in the long run.
ReplyDelete2. Getting fired may not always seem like a particularly good thing, but in Jobs's case, it was. After being fired from his own company, he didn't really know what to do at first. He soon started the companies NeXT and Pixar, which went well for him. Apple ended up buying NeXT, making Jobs part of Apple again. He not only was able to work at his company, but now also had this other technology which he worked on in the other two projects. Jobs explained this as one of the best things that ever happened to him because it really only made his life better than it was before. He now had his improved company, and in addition met the woman he would later marry and start a family with.
3. When Jobs was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and the doctors told him he was going to die, he began to think differently about his life. He had a new perspective on things, meaning he began to question himself and tried to live each day as if it were his last. He always kept that in mind, and gave it as advice to others. Jobs used this to make every important decision, and as he said, "Remembering that you are going to die is the best way to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose."
1. Steve jobs described dropping out as the best decision he could have made because dropping out allowed him to "drop in" on the classes he had an interest in taking instead of taking the required classes that he didn't care about. When developing the Mac he says that because he had dropped out he learned everything he needed from the classes that he dropped in.
ReplyDelete2. Jobs described being fried from apple as one of the best things that could have happened to him because after he was fired, he was left with nothing but to start over, and with the begginer feeling again he was able to produce two new companies which both turned out to be almost as successful as the first company he created. And in the end, Next was bought by apple and he ended up where he started except three times as successful and happy with a woman and family he loved.
3. After Steve Jobs was informed that he was diagnosed with cancer he took another look on life. He realized he had less time with his family, less time with his life, and less time with his children. All the things that he would do, stories he would tell, intellegence he would share with his children to guide them until they were ready to think on their own he had to sum up in three to six months. He shortly realized what every second was worth, and what it meant to not waste your time worry about the little things. He learned and preeched that when you know your going to die, you realize to stop living someone else's life and to be yourself.
When is this due? Because i have the paper and I was going to give this to you in class tomorrow?
ReplyDelete(1)Dropping out was not something Steve Jobs looked at as negative. He actually referred to it as “one of the best decisions I ever made.” But why would ruining education in this way be something positive? The effect of the drop out lead him to taking classes that he actually had an interest for instead of taking the necessary classes in college that he had no care for. Because he was able to learn about something that aroused his interest, he was also able to arouse an object that all began with an idea. The Macintosh computers owned by billions of people today was developed off of what education Jobs had learned while taking the classes of his volition. If Jobs had never dropped out of college and signed up for more interesting classes, he would have never created what successful business is still running today. (2)Along with this new company came downfalls. Jobs had been fired from his own company but yet he still kept his head up. He still had passion for what he originally loved. With that, Jobs created two successful companies known as NeXT and Pixar. Apple had bought NeXT and Jobs returned to his own business along with his other two businesses that were running successfully. If Jobs was never fired, he would not have created two other businesses that are still successful today plus his original successful business. If he wasn’t fired from Apple, we would only have one amazing company, not three. (3)Besides Job’s talent to turn something negative into positive, he was also able to turn death into a motivator. Jobs had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was told that he was going to die in the next few months. The thought of dying at any moment made him realize that life should be lived to the fullest. He had made sure that everything he did, he was happy with. If he wasn’t happy with something, he simply changed it. Death as a thought in mind encouraged him to do everything to the best and fullest every single day as if he were to drop dead at any moment. Because of this motivation, everything he did was at his best plus it had satisfied him. Not only was he able to teach himself a life lesson, he was able to share it with the world along with his many achievements as proof. Just as Jobs quoted, “if you are not happy with what you are doing, change it.”
ReplyDelete1. Steve Job described his dropping out of college as “dropping in” to more interesting classes that he found enjoyable. And that decision he said was the best decision he had made in his life. And this decision started the new path of his life to do stuff that he would enjoy. And this decision led up to him creating the business as we know today as Apple.
ReplyDelete2. When Steve Job was fired he also said this is the best thing that happened in his life. This allowed him to start over. And in the process he had created 2 other extremely success company. And then these companies were eventually bought by his old company Apple.
3. And after Steve Jobs was informed that he was diagnosed with cancer it was another shake in his life. He then realized that life is way too short and shouldn’t be wasted. He started do things that were really important, spending time with his family and loved ones. Also realized that he needs to share the knowledge he owned and started giving inspirational speeches like this one. Being diagnosed with cancer really opened his eyes and made him realize what is important in this world.
1) He says it was the best decision he ever made so he could save his parents money they earned from hard work, while pursing his interests. Since he dropped out he could concentrate on the things that he really liked. Hone in and fine-tune the skills he wanted to learn. Because he dropped out college, he didn’t MISS out on being the innovative CEO of the Apple company. “If I had never dropped out, I would have never dropped in on that calligraphy class, and personal computers might nor have the wonderful typography that they do.
ReplyDelete2) He said it was the best thing that ever happened to him because once he was fired he was back to square one. He was “a beginner again,” as he put it. There was time to be creative and free. There was no company to work for, only he, his creativity, and his talent. During the time he made a company that was later bought by Apple and he once again returned to his first company! Also, he started Pixar, “the most successful animation studio… in the world.” In doing all this he stumbled upon what would be his future wife who he later started a family with. All this happened because he was fired from Apple.
3) He used his inevitable death to push himself. If he got too comfortable he would do something different with his life, take charge, and take chances. This made him live life to the fullest. He had “cheated” death at the time. He realized what little time we all have and why life should be appreciated and not wasted. Nobody should wait to die. Life should be LIVED and not “waited.” Steve Jobs tried to make the most of every second he had on this planet.
1. Steve Jobs choosing to drop out of college was one of the best decisions of his life, because it allowed him to take the classes that he wanted to take, which allowed him to follow his passions, and, as an effect to that, completely reshape the technology industry that we know today.
ReplyDelete2. Steve Jobs being fired from Apple was one of the best things that ever happened to him because it allowed him to start from the bottom of the line, and work his way up all over again, which allowed him to invent Pixar, one of the most popular, and all around beloved movie companies of all time, and he also invented NeXT, which due to its success, was bought by Apple, and, bringing Steve Jobs right back on top of the technology industry.
3. Steve used his inevitable death by cancer to live his life the way he wanted it lived, not the way society would want someones life lived. With death hanging over his head, at all times of the day, ready and willing to take everything that he had away from him, he spent his last few years making sure that he wasn't forgotten. He took risks, and in those risks, he made the iPod touch, one of the most popular handheld devices of all time, the iPhone, one of the most popular phones of all time, and the iPad, proving that bigger is better, and also that if you slap an "i" at the beginning of any product made by Apple, sales will increase by at least 150%. His death motivated him to actually live, as ironic as that sounds.
1. Steve Jobs called dropping out one of the best decisions he ever made because when he was in college, he took classes that did not appeal to him, so he didn’t put much effort into his work. After he dropped out, he took classes that he found intriguing and because of that, he completed work with ebullience and reached his full potential. Taking the classes of his choice sparked an idea that changed his life and the lives of billions of people across the world. If he stayed in college he would have never came up with one of the largest corporations in the world, Apple.
ReplyDelete2. Job’s road to success wasn’t easy. He was fired from his company but still portrayed an optimistic attitude towards what he did. He worked immensely hard and soon created two companies Next and Pixar. Jobs was them employed by Apple when they bought his companies. If Steve Jobs was never fired from Apple, he would never have had the motivation to create two new incredible industries.
3. Ever since Jobs was starting out in the business, he always asked himself one question, “If today were the last day of my life, would I wanna do what I am about to do today?” The tactic he used “to remember that he’ll be dead soon” has helped him make significant decisions in his life. When Jobs actually found out he might be dead in three to six months because of Pancreatic Cancer, he changed his outlook on life. He realized that he needs to live to the fullest, and at the end of each day be satisfied with the work he has done. Because of this spur he put 110 percent into everything he did and made sure at the end of the day he was happy and if he wasn’t, he changed it. He has proven to himself and the world that you are capable of anything if you put your mind to it.
1. Jobs explained dropping out as "one of the best decisions I ever made." He says this because when he was in college, he was taking classes he didn't care for and he felt like he was wasting his time. Steve dropped out and took calligraphy instruction which turned out to be his passion. He faced a plethora of obstacles because of dropping out but he was doing something he loved and something that would be the start of an amazing discovery. The fonts on the Macintosh computer were made the way they were because of him. Jobs explained how he followed his heart and it got him to where he was. He gave the advice that you should follow your gut because somehow it already knows what you want to do and what your passion is.
ReplyDelete2. Jobs called being fired from Apple "one of the best things that ever happened to me." This was because during the months he was out of Apple, he created Pixar and Next. He met the woman he'd marry and the woman he'd fallen in love with. Apple bought Next and Steve was soon back in business. Jobs explained that in order for good things to happen you must go through obstacles. Once you overcome them, you will get back on track and succeed. "Don't settle." Don't settle for where you work, who you work for, what you do or who you fall in love with. Find what you love and succeed in it.
3. Steve Jobs used his inevitable death as daily motivation because he looked in the mirror every day and asked himself the repetitive question on whether he was about to do what he wanted to do, or not. And when the answer was no, he knew he must change something in his life. When the doctor diagnosed him with pancreatic cancer, it was almost an inevitable death. In that time, he was told to tie up loose ends, tell his children everything they needed to know and to put his affairs in order. Steve Jobs followed his heart, found what he loved and accomplished it. Through all the obstacles, frustration, and hopelessness, he pulled through, because that's what he was destined for. His advice is this; follow your heart, don't settle and do what you love.
Jobs calls dropping out, "one of the best decisions I ever made" due to the fact that, that's how it all started. If he didn't drop out and start doing stuff that he though would interest him, who knows where he'd be. if he didn't tale calligraphy who know what out tpyed word would look like, he life really started when e decided, that graduating college wasn't nessacary for him.
ReplyDeleteJobs calls being fired from Apple "one of the best things that ever happened" to him due to the fact that if he wasn't fired he wouldn't be able to start company's like pixar or next. which had an influential part on animation motion pictures. and in the end it all worked out because next got bought by apple, and once again Jobs was part of apple.
Jobs used his inevitable death as his daily motivation by living each day to its fullest, if he didn't want a day to end like it did he would change it as fast as he could, so that if tomarrow didn't exist he would have no regrets
